Germanium

Organic germanium, bis-carboxyethyl germanium sesqui-oxide (or "GE-132"), has been tested in the treatment of a wide variety of medical problems that require improved oxygenation and immune function. Found in high quantities in garlic, Siberian ginseng, reishi (lingzhi) mushroom, and other medicinal plants, germanium has been shown to enhance gamma-interferon and activate macrophages and natural killer cells. Several Japanese medical studies have reported beneficial effects in malignancies and rheumatoid arthritis.

Additional research studies have indicated that germanium has immunomodulating properties and may also function as a free radical scavenger. Germanium appears to be natural regulator of homeostasis, found to be nontoxic even at high oral doses. No toxin found in this mineral.

What is Lycopene

Lycopene

Lycopene is the red-colored carotenoid predominantly found in tomato fruit but in few other fruits or vegetables. Lycopene is one of the most potent antioxidants among dietary carotenoids. Humans cannot synthesize carotenoids and have to depend on upon the diet exclusively for the source of this micro nutrients.

Dietary intake of tomatoes and tomato products containing lycopene has been shown to be associated with the decreases risk of chronic diseases, such as Cancer and cardiovascular disease.

The need of antioxidants is increased by the excess dietary fats, cigarette smoke, alcohol consumption, pollutants and stress.

A recent clinical study demonstrates that lycopene might not only prevent prostate cancer but also have therapeutic effects. Researchers in Finland have found that low plasma Lycopene concentrations are associated with early atherosclerosis, manifested as increased CCA-IMT (Intermedia thickness of the common catorid artery wall), in middle-age men living in Eastern Finland.

A daily dose of Lycopene exerts a protective effect again EIA (exercise-induced asthma)in some patients, most probably through an in vivo antioxidants effect.

Herbal in Sumerian and Egypt

Herbal in Sumerian and Egypt

Herbal in Sumerian and Egypt

The Sumerian Civilization began in Mesopotamia in3400 BC and one of its most important contributions was the invention of writing. During peacetime, this state was run by priests who made written records on tablets of baked clay with the point of a graver or sculpting tool. Thus, there still exists today a clay tablet dating from 3000 BC giving formulas for poultices made from mixing water, wine, and milk with herbs such as thyme and mustard.

Medical knowledge developed gradually and it is from the Egyptians that we have an idea of how the herbs were first used. Archaeologists discovered detailed prescriptions written on papyrus, dating from after 1800 BC. Known as the Ebers Papyrus, this lists the symptoms of diseases and instructs how to mix up and administer the cures. Religion and healing were still fused together, combining the god Thoth, believed to have imparted medical knowledge, and Imhotep, the first known physician of Egypt, worshiped as a god after his death.

It was in the ceremonies of death that the Egyptians could really draw on their plant knowledge, and the practice of embalming used fragrant resins and gums from trees such as myrrh, frankincense or Balm of Gilead. They also used anise and marjoram for mummification and buried herbs in the tombs when they were sealed. The mummies were often wound in linen, woven from the fibers of the flax plant. The builders of the pyramids in Egypt were given onion and garlic every day to prevent scurvy and to keep them healthy for work.
The Egyptians were also highly skilled in preparing cosmetics and perfumes and they imported many aromatics from the East. Cedarwood oil was massaged into the body after bathing to keep the skin supple; henna was used as rouge for the cheeks and for dying finger- and toenails red, and a cream from quince fruits was used as a moisturizer for the face. Queen Cleopatra is famous for her lavish use of perfumes.

Hebrew medicines had much in common with those Egypt, using many resins and spices and, in the temples; holy oils were used to anoint the sacred utensils while aromatics were burned during services. There are many Old Testaments references to herbs, such as anise, mint, lavender, and cumin, as well as more exotic species, such as spikenard from India.

Parallel cultures in India and China recorded the use of herbs in medicine. The Rig-Veda of India and the later Ayurveda were great works of learning, detailing the use of herbal remedies, and were the basis for the Indian system of medicine. In China, the earliest herbal dates from around 2700 BC and describes many toxic plants as well as herbs like the Chinghai Rhubarb which is still used in China for treating constipation. The Chinese were practiced in the difficult skill of mixing up many different herbs into one prescription.

Health Benefits of Canola Oil

Canola is cultivated, cultured and abundant in Canada and United States. It is the result of breeding from rapeseed, an oilseed plant with roots in old civilization. Canola in fact is called “Canadian Oil Low Acid”.

Health Benefits of Canola Oil
Canola oil is touted as the healthiest oil due to the fact that it has low saturated fats and high monounsaturated oil content; the latter is almost 60% with beneficial omega-3 fatty acids profile. Canola Council in Canada said that it is completely safe to use Canola oil and is the healthiest oil used in cooking. The old rapeseed has a very high content of erucic acid and glucosinolates which are both undesirable to human consumption. Erucic acid is implicated with cancer and rancidity while glucosinolates are goitrogenic. Canola oil reduces the erucic acid from 0.5% to 5% more or less without eradicating them completely. Rapeseed is used in Canada for a long time though there is a record of side effect but they weighed that it has more beneficial advantages than the disadvantages.

Health Benefits of Adhatoda Vasica

Adhatoda Vasica

This plant originates in India and Sri Lanka. The medicinal properties of Adhatoda vasica Nees (order: Acanthaceae), have been known in India and several other countries for thousands of years. The plant has been recommended by Ayurvedic physicians for the managements of various types of respiratory disorders.
The leaves of the plant contain an essential oil and the quinazoline alkaloids vasicine, vasicinone and deoxyvasicine. The roots contain vasicinolone, vasicol, peganine and 2’-hydroxy-4-glucosyl-oxychalcone. The flowers contain Beta-sitosterol-D- glucoside, kaempferol and its glucosides, as well as the bioflavonoid, quercetin.

The leaves are used in the treatment of respiratory disorders in Ayurveda. Research over the last three decades revealed that the alkaloids vascinine and vasicinone, present in the leaves, possess respiratory stimulant activity. Vasicine, at low concentrations, induced bronchodilation, and relaxation of the tracheal muscles. At high concentrations, vasicine offered significant protection against histamine-induced bronchospasm in guinea pigs. Vasicinone, the auto-oxidation product of vaccine, has been reported to cause bronchodilation both in vitro and in vivo. In another study, vasicine showed appreciable bronchodilatory affect and marked respiratory stimulant activities whereas vasicinone showed relaxation of the tracheal muscles in vitro and bronchoconstriction in vivo. Of the two alkaloids, vasicinone is more potent than vasicine, with antiasthmatic activity comparable to that of disodium cromoglycate.

Traditional and other therapeutic uses:
1. asthma
2. cough
3. respiratory ailments

Adhatoda vasica has a very low toxicity and very rare side effect reported.

Warning Signs of Alzheimer's disease

Alzheimer's Disease

Vitamin B-12 injections- dementia can be caused by Vit B-12 deficiency.

Regular exercise throughout the adulthood can reduce the chances of developing Alzheimer's disease such as biking (not for men for their prostate as it cause impotence), walking, swimming, golf, and dancing. Have your homocysteine level check. The higher the level you would be a candidate for a stroke or heart attack as well as Alzheimer's disease.

A decline in the sense of smell often occurs as much as two years prior to the beginning of a mental decline in people with Alzheimer's disease. Using your brain, remaining busy, writing, reading, and learning new things are important overall factors in staying sharp and preventing mental disorders.

Health Benefits of Cinnamon

Before I proceed to my recipe for another version of "Guinatan", I would like to add more benefits of cinnamon. Cinnamon relieves diarrhea and nausea. It counteracts congestion, aids peripheral circulation. Warms the body and enhance digestion, especially metabolism of fats. Also fights fungal infection. Useful for diabetes, weight loss, yeast infection and uterine hemorrhaging. Caution-should not be used in large amount during pregnancy.

Here's the recipe so simple and easy to make:

You can look for the package of assorted legumes and in it there's also a small packet of tiny tapioca. Boil the water and soon it simmer for everything in the package till everything is cook. You can add bigger tapioca but you have to cook them separately as it takes longer to cook. While in the process of cooking those legumes and tapioca, you can put the cinnamon stick.
Cinnamon

You can also add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and a pinch of salt and sugar or brown sugar when everything is cooked and add coconut milk and if you prefer soy milk , you can do so.

You can find that assorted package of legumes with tapioca in the Asian Supermarket in the aisle of beverage, along tea section or just go all around every aisle for sure. If you can't find them, make your own. You can use dried mung beans, red beans, all kinds of beans and also a little of sweet rice, sagu and, tapioca. Boil all of them till fully cook, just cook separately the tapioca, only the large ones. The small tapioca pearl can be cook together with the rest of the beans. To make it more yummy, when everything is cooked with coconut milk, before serving you can add "nata de Coco " and strips of bottled ripe" Langka or jackfruit".
