Planning to resign

Since there is no salary increased some of the employees in the company are planning to resign. Last year they also made trouble when they did a mass resignation, actually I was with them too. The reason for last year is not the salary but because of the management.

My boss told us before that it is our right to do that if we find a better company that will give us higher salary and better benefits. I did not give any comments about their plan because I do not want to be involved and I think it is their right so why not. I think if you are not happy and not contented with your present salary and there is no more room for you to grow then find somewhere else.

Back in Tabuk

Yesterday one of the employees in our company returned. Actually he resigned before when I was new here, around one year to be exact. I asked him why, what happened to his business and he said that it is very hard to strike a root in the Philippines especially if your capital is very small. The competition is very stiff and if you have small money to start, big companies and rich businessmen will just eat your capital.

He has a family with two kids and they are now going to school so what he earned is not enough for the daily expenses and school expenses that is why he said he decided to return back to our company. My boss accepted him without hesitation because he has a good performance before and he left the company in a nice way. He exit gracefully. This is what I am interested you know if you are an employee, do not burned the bridge. There are many people who are good and excellent to their field but they do not have work ethics and they don't respect their company so what happened is that they do not have a nerve to return. We sometimes have grievance with our company but I will tell you that there is no perfect company anyway. Different company, different policy so just take one day at a time. There is a saying that if you could not bear the heat, get out from the kitchen, but don't ruin the kitchen anyway.

My piece of advice is to love your work or job, remember there are many people out there who are jobless and no food to eat. Don't commit the same mistake that other people did. It reminds me of a certain guy who was very boastful and arrogant, well right now he is jobless, he spilled the milk at the height of his promotion. To balance your life, you must concentrate on your health and wealth and be happy. Without a permanent source of income is not healthy at all.

Part-time job and Overtime

For the almost two months we have extra hours daily because our boss order us to repair the building which will be turned over to Airborne. So we do not need to give service or maintenance to the system which they used to train themselves in flying. Anyway my boss pay us extra money as the repair is done after duty hours. Last month I get $200.00 by spending three hours painting the wall. Some of my buddy got $300.00 because they spent more time than me.

Overtime can add more money to your pocket regardless if it is another job or your regular job everyday. Right now I saved money already for my foods so my regular salary will go straight to my family. How about you what other source of income do you have?

The best way to grow your company is to hire people who are fit to work. There are many employees who are good and talented but they are in the wrong boat so to speak. The problem lies in the personnel department wherein they will hire a bright person but not good in field which they are supposed to work, this is a mismatch situation. How to evaluate your employee?

Many companies and medium enterprises overlook some of the best employee in their company. I have something to share to you. It happened in the company where I used to work. My boss is not always around so he rely on his two employees as the source of information in our company or shall we say establishment.

So one day my boss was very angry and warn us of termination because of the report that was generated by the dogs that he has in our establishment while he was away. It generates trouble and misunderstanding as a result lot of his good and competent employees left. Lesson we get here is you should not trust to few or one or two persons only. As a manager you must know that you have a lot of employees and there comes a time that the dogs that you have might have some jealousy to the others so they gave false information.

Be wise and make a cross examinations about the report. If you trust only two persons then it means you are not a competent manager too. Imagine your legs are pulled by two insecure crooked. Be wise too, that is why you are the manager.
