Your sunscreen should have a sun protection factor (SPF) of a least 15... and if
you're headed to the beach or pool, it should also be water resistant. With an
SPF-15 sunscreen, you will remain burn-free for 15 times longer than you would with unprotected skin. You should apply sunscreen liberally to all areas of skin that will be exposed to the sun. Do so at least 15 minutes before heading outdoors, so it has a chance to be absorbed. Pay attention to easily overlooked areas--like your feet, earlobes, a bald spot, the back of your hands, the top of your ears, the nape of your neck and the tip of your nose.
Reapply at least once every 3 hours for as long as you are out in the sun. Even with
water resistant sunscreen, it's prudent to reapply after going into the water or perspiring heavily. For office workers, a single morning application will suffice. If you work outdoors, reapply sunscreen frequently during the day. Avoid suntan lotion, mineral oil or cocoa butter as they only merely lubricate the skin. They do not block harmful rays.
Sunscreen is not only for women but for men as well or for anyone. Sunscreen minimize the growing risk of malignant melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer and most of all helps prevent wrinkles. For sunblock you can use zinc oxide ointment and apply it on the high risk spot- the nose and the rims of the ears.
